DC Anantnag Visits Fire Victims at GMC; Assures Full Support for Recovery and Quality Healthcare

ANANTNAG, MAY 12, 2026 — Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, visited Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag today to personally monitor the condition of victims injured in a tragic fire at a local seminary.

The incident, which occurred during the intervening night of May 11 and 12, resulted in several burn injuries and the unfortunate loss of one life.

Accompanied by a team of senior officials, including the ADC and Medical Superintendent, Dr. Bhat interacted with the patients to assess their recovery progress and the quality of care they are receiving.

Expressing deep sympathy for the affected families, the DC offered prayers for the deceased and assured the injured that the district administration would provide every possible resource to ensure their swift and complete recovery.

During his visit, Dr. Bhat conducted an extensive inspection of various hospital departments to evaluate the availability of essential medicines and the punctuality of medical staff.
