Community Kitchen Upgrade Enhances Support for Patients at GMC Jammu
JAMMU, APRIL 14, 2026: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended an event today at Government Medical College Jammu to mark the official upgradation of Apna Bhojanalaya.
This community kitchen, which provides essential meals to those in need, is managed by the Sewa Bharti organization and receives significant backing from J&K Bank and a variety of private donors.
During his visit, the Lieutenant Governor spent time with the volunteers and shared a meal at the facility to show his support for the initiative.
Addressing the gathering, Manoj Sinha spoke about the profound impact of selfless service on the social fabric of the region. He noted that feeding the hungry is one of the most sacred responsibilities a person can undertake, suggesting that such acts of kindness bring a sense of grace to both the giver and the receiver.
He praised Sewa Bharti for their persistence and vision, highlighting that meaningful change in a community does not always require vast financial resources but rather a committed spirit and a genuine love for one’s neighbors.
The Lieutenant Governor also emphasized that the strength of Jammu and Kashmir lies in the health and dignity of its families and communities. He urged the public to commit to the cause of service, noting that when individual citizens are empowered to contribute and rise, the entire Union Territory prospers.
He extended his gratitude to the volunteers and donors who have helped transform lives through the kitchen, remarking that their work does more than just provide food; it upholds the basic human dignity of millions of people.
Looking toward the future, Manoj Sinha called for a collective pledge to ensure that the services provided by Apna Bhojanalaya continue without interruption. The ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including MLA Arvind Gupta, J&K Bank CEO Amitava Chatterjee, and various representatives from Sewa Bharti and the medical college.
