Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo reviews essential commodities and LPG stock availability across Jammu and Kashmir
SRINAGAR, June 1 — Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo reviewed the availability and stock position of essential commodities across Jammu and Kashmir today, with a specific focus on petroleum products, LPG, and other critical supplies required for the upcoming peak tourism and pilgrimage season.
The high-level meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary of the Agriculture Production Department Ashish Chandra Verma, Commissioner Secretary of FCS&CA Saurabh Bhagat, and the Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir, alongside senior officers and representatives from oil marketing companies.
Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police also joined the proceedings via video conferencing. The Chief Secretary emphasized the need for maintaining uninterrupted supplies of petroleum products, LPG, and fertilizers, directing departments to ensure domestic LPG is not diverted for commercial use and to complete the e-KYC process for eligible beneficiaries to prevent subsidy interruptions.
District administrations were also tasked with assessing stocks at hospitals and residential institutions, checking supplies for migratory laborers, and ensuring timely payments to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises.
During the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Ashish Chandra Verma provided a detailed overview of fertilizer availability, urging district administrations to intensify awareness about the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ to reduce over-reliance on urea and eliminate substandard insecticides from the market.
Commissioner Secretary Saurabh Bhagat briefed the chair on the department’s monitoring mechanism for 40 essential commodities, noting that market prices remained largely stable with strict enforcement actions taken against profiteering.
Providing division-specific details, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg confirmed that adequate stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG are available and in transit to comfortably meet consumer demands.
Furthermore, the meeting was informed that commercial LPG supplies remain stable at major tourist destinations including Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, and Srinagar, with advance arrangements fully in place to seamlessly handle the increased demand from the high tourist inflow and the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
