CBI arrests Delhi Police head constable for accepting bribe in Dwarka narcotics case

NEW DELHI, April 22, 2026:-The Central Bureau of Investigation has apprehended a Head-Constable serving in the Anti Narcotic Cell of the Delhi Police, Dwarka, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe.

The arrest follows a formal complaint alleging that the officer, along with other unidentified individuals, had demanded a total sum of Rs. 15 lakh from a citizen. The bribe was reportedly sought in exchange for not falsely implicating the complainant in a criminal case.

According to the CBI, the accused had initially directed the complainant to deliver a partial payment of Rs. 5 lakh by April 21, 2026. Acting on this information, the CBI registered a case and organized a trap operation.

The Head-Constable was caught red-handed while accepting a sum of Rs. 2 lakh as part of the negotiated bribe amount. Subsequent to the arrest, investigative teams conducted a search of the officer’s workplace, which led to the recovery and seizure of an additional Rs. 48.87 lakh in cash.

The CBI has reiterated its commitment to tackling corruption within public services and continues to investigate the involvement of other potential suspects.

The agency has encouraged the public to report any instances of bribery or official misconduct by contacting their Anti-Corruption Bureau in New Delhi. Further legal proceedings and investigations into the source of the seized funds are currently underway.
