Amritsar Police bust cross border arms and drug smuggling module arrest two suspects

AMRITSAR, June 3, 2026 — In a major law enforcement breakthrough, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police busted a cross-border illegal arms and drug smuggling module, apprehending two accused individuals. During the operation, police officials recovered 2.225 kilograms of heroin, six sophisticated pistols, and 12 live cartridges from the possession of the suspects.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested individuals were in direct contact with cross-border smugglers and were allegedly receiving consignments of heroin for further distribution to various criminal elements across Punjab.Following the successful operation, formal first information reports have been registered at the Chheharta and Cantonment police stations in Amritsar.

A comprehensive, further investigation is currently underway by local authorities to establish both forward and backward linkages of the operation and to identify other members associated with the illicit network.

The operation underscores the firm commitment of the Punjab Police to maintaining a strict zero-tolerance policy against drugs, illegal firearms, and organized crime in the region.
