Advanced cyber security training starts for CISF at IIT Madras Pravartak
CHENNAI, JUNE 12, 2026 — A specialized cyber security training initiative has commenced at IIT Madras Pravartak, where 35 Central Industrial Security Force personnel are participating in a comprehensive six-week course.
The training curriculum focuses on critical domains including network and cloud computing, digital forensics, cyber threat identification, artificial intelligence, machine learning, incident response, and relevant legal frameworks.
This training program supports a broader national strategy aimed at developing 5,000 cyber commandos to fortify the digital defense systems of the country.
By participating in this course, the personnel are acquiring advanced technical expertise necessary to intercept evolving digital threats and protect vital national infrastructure.The security force has already trained more than 1,600 personnel at various elite institutions across the country, including the National Forensic Sciences University in Delhi and Gandhinagar, the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology in Pune, and the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad.
Current initiatives also include pursuing empanelment with the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team and achieving ISO/IEC 27001 certification to enhance capabilities in risk management, auditing, and compliance.
As the primary agency responsible for securing critical assets such as airports, maritime ports, metro rail networks, and nuclear power installations, the organization is actively upgrading its skills to operate as a comprehensive security provider proficient in handling both physical and digital security challenges.
