Indian Army Organizes Tobacco Awareness Campaigns Across Northeast For World Lung Cancer Day
IMPHAL, Aug 2: Security forces under the Spear Corps conducted healthcare awareness programs across Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur to mark World Lung Cancer Day. The initiative aimed to educate local communities and youth about the severe health risks associated with tobacco consumption and to encourage healthier lifestyle habits.As part of the outreach, Assam Rifles organized anti-tobacco awareness drives at Peletkie village in Nagaland and across Imphal West district in Manipur. Meanwhile, the Spearhead Division conducted an anti-smoking educational session along with a drawing competition for school children at Manigong in Arunachal Pradesh.The events featured interactive lectures, community discussions, and creative activities designed to highlight preventive healthcare measures. Villagers, students, and young residents actively participated in the programs, reinforcing a collective commitment to creating tobacco-free communities across the region.
