Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh education ministers meet to strengthen academic cooperation

SRINAGAR, June 25: Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Health and Medical Education Sakeena Itoo held a detailed interaction with the Education Minister of Himachal Pradesh Rohit Thakur in Srinagar to exchange ideas, best practices, and innovative reforms aimed at strengthening the education sectors of both regions.

The two ministers engaged in comprehensive discussions covering elementary, school, and higher education sectors, focusing on academic excellence, digital learning, teacher capacity building, skill development, and infrastructure. Senior officers from the school education departments of both governments were also present during the high-level interaction.

Sakeena Itoo highlighted the significant strides made by Jammu and Kashmir in the education sector over the last two years, noting a marked improvement in 10th and 12th class results.

She reiterated the government’s commitment to creating a robust academic ecosystem that ensures quality, inclusive, and equitable education through the modernization of institutions, digital expansion, and technology-enabled learning in remote areas.

Rohit Thakur briefed the gathering on educational reforms in Himachal Pradesh, sharing achievements in literacy, community participation, and innovative teaching practices across rural and mountainous regions. Both ministers expressed satisfaction with the dialogue and agreed to enhance knowledge-sharing cooperation to build a future-ready education system.
