Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha highlights spiritual unity and environmental preservation at Amarnath Yatra international conference
SRINAGAR, June 25: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed the valedictory session of an international conference on the Amarnath Yatra, organized by the Government Degree College for Women, Anantnag, in collaboration with the district administration.
The Lieutenant Governor stated that the pilgrimage is a living embodiment of the country’s spiritual consciousness, cultural heritage, and humane values, emphasizing the collective duty to preserve and pass this tradition to future generations.
He noted that the sacred journey stands for social unity and deep inner reflection, serving as a unique model of coexistence that brings diverse communities together while directly supporting the local economy by generating livelihoods for thousands of families.
The Lieutenant Governor underscored the commitment to maintaining an environmental balance through a zero-waste pilgrimage, promoting initiatives like full waste recycling and plastic reduction campaigns.
Highlighting infrastructure and technological advancements over the past few years, he mentioned the widening and illuminating of the Baltal and Chandanwari tracks alongside the integration of digital tools like online registration, RFID monitoring, and surveillance systems to enhance safety and accessibility.
The conference, which envisioned the pilgrimage as a future hub for global spiritual tourism and cultural diplomacy, was attended by Principal Secretary Mandeep K Bhandari, Commissioner Secretary Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Divisional Commissioner Anshul Garg, IGP VK Birdi, DIG Javid Iqbal Matoo, Deputy Commissioner Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, SSP Amod Nagpure Ashok, and College Principal Khalida Hassan.
