Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026: Jammu and Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat Reviews Nunwan Base Camp Security
ANANTNAG, June 23, 2026 — Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat reviewed the security and logistical arrangements at the Nunwan Base Camp today, directing officers to maintain the highest level of preparedness for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
Accompanied by Special Director General Coordination and IGP Kashmir Zone V.K. Birdi, the police chief assessed the security framework and overall readiness of the forces deployed for the annual pilgrimage. During the visit, DIG South Kashmir Range and SSP Anantnag Amod Ashok Nagpure briefed the delegation on the multi-layered security arrangements, deployment plans, surveillance mechanisms, emergency response systems, traffic management, and inter-agency coordination.
Reviewing the active preparations, Prabhat instructed officers to ensure foolproof security arrangements across all base camps and along the entire pilgrimage route. He emphasized the necessity of heightened vigilance, effective intelligence gathering, robust access-control mechanisms, and seamless coordination among security agencies to eliminate potential lapses.
Additionally, field officers were told to remain alert to emerging threats, strengthen area domination, and maintain quick response capabilities, keeping the safety and convenience of the pilgrims as the top priority. The police chief concluded by directing officials to monitor deployments continuously, maintain round-the-clock surveillance, and keep all emergency and disaster-response mechanisms operational throughout the pilgrimage period.
