CISF takes over security at Safdarjung Airport in Delhi
NEW DELHI, June 18, 2026 — The Central Industrial Security Force has officially taken over the security operations at Safdarjung Airport in Delhi. A specialized unit consisting of 75 personnel has been deployed to manage the security infrastructure, marking Safdarjung Airport as the 73rd airport in the country to be brought under the security umbrella of the Central Industrial Security Force.
The transition was marked by an official induction ceremony attended by top officials, including Binita Thakur, Additional Director General of the Airport Sector, and Senthil Avoodai Krishna Raj S, Inspector General of the Airport Sector-I. The event began with a Guard of Honour presented to the Additional Director General, followed by the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
During the event, the official Central Industrial Security Force flag was handed over by Binita Thakur to Babu Ram, Deputy Inspector General and Chief Airport Security Officer of Indira Gandhi International Airport, along with B. S. Meena, Assistant Commandant and Chief Airport Security Officer of Safdarjung Airport.
The formal transfer of security responsibilities was finalized when the Airport Director, K. C. Meena, presented the symbolic key insignia to B. S. Meena.In her address to the gathering, Binita Thakur emphasized the strategic significance of Safdarjung Airport within the national capital.
She reiterated the unwavering commitment of the central force to safeguarding the critical aviation infrastructure of the country through high levels of professionalism, constant vigilance, and dedication to duty.
