Southern Command Army Commander reviews defence production and logistics readiness in Pune

PUNE, June 18, 2026 — The Army Commander of the Southern Command conducted a comprehensive visit to key military installations and defence production facilities in Pune to assess operational readiness and manufacturing capabilities.

The high-level review included inspections at the 512 Army Base Workshop, the Central Armoured Fighting Vehicle Depot, the Ammunition Factory, and Munitions India Limited. The primary objective of the visit was to evaluate maintenance frameworks, sustainment strategies, logistics readiness, and overall defence production outputs across the command’s jurisdiction.

During the assessment, the Southern Command leadership focused heavily on the integration of modern technology absorption and the development of future-ready capabilities within these strategic hubs.

The discussions and inspections underscored the ongoing efforts to strengthen self-reliance in defence manufacturing, align with national indigenization goals, and enhance multi-domain support.
