Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah clarifies meeting venue decision denies last minute shift rumors

SRINAGAR, June 3, 2026 — Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah dismissed media reports and public speculation suggesting that an important meeting of ministers, legislators, and Members of Parliament was shifted at the last moment from his official Gupkar residence to Chashma Shahi.

In a clarifying statement posted on X, the Chief Minister emphasized that the venue had not been changed abruptly and stated that the decision to hold the administrative meeting at an off-site location had been finalized well in advance. He noted that it was always his intention to conduct the session off-site, with all logistical arrangements organized days prior at the location originally selected by him.

The official clarification followed growing regional speculation earlier in the day regarding the movement of ministers, legislators, and MPs from the Gupkar residence to the designated meeting venue near Chashma Shahi.
