Sakeena Itoo Distributes Appointment Orders in Srinagar; Reaffirms Govt’s Commitment to Merit-Based Opportunities

SRINAGAR, MAY 12, 2026 — Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Health, and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, underscored the Omar Abdullah-led government’s dedication to transparency and merit-based career advancement during an official ceremony at the SCERT Auditorium in Bemina today.

Addressing a gathering of officials and beneficiaries, the Minister distributed appointment orders to 25 Contingent Paid Workers (CPWs) who have been regularized as Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), alongside promotion orders for 14 Laboratory Assistants elevated to Teacher positions.

Minister Itoo emphasized that nearly 3,000 CPWs have been regularized over the past 18 months, a move intended to provide employment security while motivating the workforce to enhance public service delivery within the School Education Department (SED).

The event, attended by Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani and senior education officials, also served as a platform to highlight broader systemic reforms aimed at strengthening educational infrastructure and improving learning outcomes across Jammu and Kashmir.

Advisor Wani noted that many of the regularized employees had been waiting for over 25 years for such recognition, marking a significant shift toward resolving long-pending administrative cases through a systematic, phased approach.

In addition to the professional advancements, the Minister and Advisor also distributed bicycles to meritorious students and those from BPL families, celebrating academic excellence while ensuring that both teaching and non-teaching staff remain empowered as the “backbone” of the region’s educational development.
