Doda Police Destroy 36 Kanals of Wild Cannabis in District-Wide Crackdown
Doda, May 12, 2026 :- In a major push toward a drug-free region, Doda Police successfully uprooted and destroyed wild cannabis (Bhang) cultivation spanning approximately 36 kanals across several areas of the district. This large-scale operation is part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat and Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, aimed at eradicating the narcotics menace. The destruction drive saw coordinated efforts across multiple jurisdictions, with the largest clearance occurring in the Nagri, Tondwah, and Ghat areas, where 15 kanals of contraband growth were neutralized under the supervision of senior police officials.
The crackdown extended into various sub-divisions and rural pockets to ensure no cultivation remained. In the Kastigarh area, police teams cleared three kanals, while similar operations in Chamote and Goha Marmat resulted in the destruction of growth across two kanals of land. The campaign continued in Bhagwah and Pul Doda, where several patches of cannabis, totaling approximately three kanals, were leveled following established legal procedures. Additionally, a special team from Dessa Police Station conducted a targeted drive to identify and uproot wild cannabis plants in remote parts of their jurisdiction.
Doda Police have emphasized that these operations are vital to protecting the local youth from the devastating effects of substance abuse. By targeting the source of illegal substances, authorities hope to dismantle the supply chain within the district. Senior officers have affirmed that a strict vigil will be maintained across all sub-divisions, promising even more intensive drives in the coming days. The police department has also called upon the public to serve as active stakeholders by sharing information regarding drug peddling or illegal cultivation to help ensure a safer, narcotics-free community.
