Anantnag Police Bust Major Drug Racket: Six Peddlers Arrested and Large Contraband Haul Seized

ANANTNAG, April 16, 2026: In a massive blow to the local narcotics trade, the Anantnag Police have successfully dismantled a drug network through a series of coordinated operations, resulting in the arrest of six peddlers and the recovery of over 13 kilograms of Charas and 12 grams of Heroin.

Executing a sustained crackdown across the district, police parties from Srigufwara apprehended Nisar Ahmad Nadaf, Adil Ahmad Mochi, and Aqib Ramzan Rather in separate raids at Dachigam, Shakras, and Pethnoo Crossing, recovering approximately six kilograms of Charas from their possession.

Simultaneously, a team from the General Bus Stand Post intercepted an auto-rickshaw at Iqbal Market, arresting Javeed Ahmad Dandroo and Majid Akram Malik after 12 grams of Heroin were found, while the Sangam Police Post apprehended Sabzar Ahmad Rather at Marhama with a substantial haul of 7.854 kilograms of Charas.

Five separate FIRs have been registered under the NDPS Act as investigators work to trace the supply chains involved in these cases

. Reaffirming their zero-tolerance policy toward the drug menace, the Anantnag Police have urged the public to continue collaborating with law enforcement to protect the youth and ensure a drug-free society through strict legal action against traffickers.
