Pulwama Police Foil Drug Trafficking Attempts; Two Peddlers Arrested with Narcotics in Separate Operations

PULWAMA, April 16, 2026:- In a continued effort to dismantle the narcotics trade under its zero-tolerance policy, the Pulwama Police successfully apprehended two individuals and seized a variety of contraband substances during separate checkpoint operations.

In the first action, a team from Police Post Newa intercepted Ab Qayoom Bhat of Zadoora at a specialized checkpoint, discovering 520 grams of poppy straw and 30 grams of charas powder concealed within a nylon bag.

Following this, a second operation led by Police Post Rahmoo at the Tujan Telsar crossing resulted in the arrest of Umer Ayub Rather of Frasipora after he was found in possession of approximately 3 grams of a heroin-like substance.

Consequently, FIR No. 55/2026 has been registered at Police Station Pulwama and FIR No. 56/2026 at Police Station Rajpora under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, with both investigations now underway to uncover further links.

The Pulwama Police have reiterated their firm commitment to eradicating the drug menace and continue to urge the general public to assist law enforcement by sharing any information regarding illegal drug trafficking in the region.
