Awantipora Police Crack Down on Illegal Mining; Three Arrested and Machinery Seized at Lethpora
AWANTIPORA, April 16, 2026:- In a decisive move to curb the unlawful exploitation of natural resources, the Awantipora Police successfully apprehended three individuals involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals along the River Jhelum.
Acting on precise intelligence regarding illicit activities in the Lethpora area, a specialized police team led by SHO Police Station Awantipora, Inspector Ajaz Ahmad, conducted a targeted raid and caught the suspects in the act.
During the operation, authorities seized a tipper vehicle and a motor used for mineral extraction, while all three accused were taken into immediate custody.
Consequently, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 87/2026 at Police Station Awantipora, with a comprehensive investigation now underway to address the environmental violation.
Reaffirming their stance against the mining mafia, the Awantipora Police have vowed to maintain strict vigilance and have called upon the general public to actively report such illegal activities to help preserve the region’s ecological balance.
