Srinagar January 01, 2026:- In line with recent meteorological predictions, Jammu and Kashmir experienced a relatively calm weather pattern over the last 24 hours, with no major rainfall or snow reported across the plains. However, higher reaches and hilly terrains, including Tulail Valley, Razdan Top, Machil, Sadhna Top, and the Sonamarg-Drass axis, received light snowfall.
According to the latest forecast insights from Kashmir Weather, the region is currently witnessing the trailing edge of a weak Western Disturbance, which is expected to gradually move away by this evening, bringing an end to the current minor activity.
Over the next 12 hours, isolated pockets of the Union Territory may still see brief intervals of light rain or snow showers as the system exits. Looking further ahead, the long-range forecast suggests a prolonged dry period.
At present, there are no strong meteorological signals indicating the arrival of any high-intensity Western Disturbance over J&K for the next 10 to 15 days. Residents and travelers are advised to expect stable but cold conditions, with clear skies likely to dominate the weather map well into the second week of January.
