Budgam Police Arrest Man for Harassing Minor Students with Snow Spray in Chadoora

BUDGAM, Dec 30: Police in Budgam have arrested a man for allegedly harassing and attacking minor girls with a chemical substance in the Chadoora area. The incident came to light after two parents filed a formal complaint at Police Station Chadoora, stating that their daughters were targeted by an unknown individual while returning from their tuition classes.

The assailant reportedly sprayed a substance into the eyes of the victims, prompting the police to register a case under FIR No. 209/2025, invoking sections 62 and 137 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).During the subsequent investigation, a dedicated police team analyzed CCTV footage and utilized technical evidence to identify the suspect.

The individual was identified as Raja Furqan, son of Fayaz Ahmad Khan and a resident of Gowherpora, Chadoora. Under questioning, it was revealed that the accused had used “snow spray” to attack the girls. Following his confession, police recovered the clothing and shoes worn by Furqan at the time of the crime. The victims later positively identified the accused, leading to his formal arrest and detention.

The investigation further disclosed that the accused was a repeat offender who had attempted similar acts in the past; however, he had previously been let off by locals with a warning rather than being reported to the authorities.

Reaffirming their commitment to public safety, the police emphasized a zero-tolerance policy regarding crimes against women and minors. Authorities have urged the general public to report all instances of harassment or similar offenses immediately to ensure that perpetrators are held accountable under the law.
