Doda Police Success: 58 Mobile Phones Recovered and ₹6.5 Lakh Cyber Fraud Restored to Victims
DODA, December 22, 2025 — Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Sandeep Mehta, addressed a press conference today to highlight major achievements in public service and technology-driven policing.
During the briefing, Mehta announced that Doda Police successfully recovered 58 lost or stolen mobile phones over the last three months, with an estimated market value of ₹13 lakh. These devices were tracked across various police stations in the district through the dedicated efforts of the Cyber Police Team, who used technical expertise and a new online recovery portal to reunite the rightful owners with their property.
Notably, some recovered devices belonged to cases nearly a year old, reinforcing the message that citizens should remain hopeful when reporting lost items.In a significant victory against digital crime, Mehta also revealed that ₹6.5 lakh in defrauded money was successfully restored to victims of cyber scams.
This recovery underscores the efficiency of the Cyber Police Unit in protecting citizens from financial exploitation. Many beneficiaries, particularly those from economically weaker backgrounds, expressed deep gratitude to the Doda Police, stating that the recovery of their phones and money constituted a vital humanitarian service that they could not have managed on their own.
