Srinagar Meteorological Centre Issues Weather Update and Advisory for Jammu and Kashmir
SRINAGAR, April 14, 2026 — The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has predicted generally dry weather conditions across Jammu and Kashmir over the next 48 hours, with a gradual rise in daytime temperatures by 2°C to 4°C expected through April 16.
While conditions will remain mostly clear initially, a brief spell of light rain or thundershowers may occur in isolated areas on the evening of April 16.
However, a significant weather shift is anticipated between April 17 and 18, as general cloudiness is expected to bring widespread rain and thundershowers.
This period also carries a warning for potential hailstorms and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h in certain locations, followed by a return to dry weather from April 19 through April 24.
In light of this forecast, the MET department has issued a specific advisory for the farming community to prioritize and complete all essential agricultural operations by April 16 before the onset of the wet spell.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed about the changing conditions, particularly regarding the possibility of strong winds and hail during the mid-week transition.
This proactive update aims to help both locals and the agricultural sector mitigate potential risks associated with the predicted atmospheric instability.
