Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026: DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma Speeds Up Security Grid and Inter-Agency Synergy in Udhampur
UDHAMPUR, JUNE 17, 2026: In a major push toward ensuring a seamless and incident-free Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2026, Shiv Kumar Sharma, the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Udhampur–Reasi Range, chaired a high-level security and coordination meeting in District Udhampur. The security review brought together Senior Superintendent of Police Udhampur Amritpal Singh, various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) Commanding Officers, supervisory officials, and Company Commanders. The core objective of the meeting centered on sharpening inter-agency coordination, operational briefings, strict guidelines adherence, contingency planning, and executing mock drills ahead of the annual pilgrimage.
During the extensive evaluation, DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma thoroughly inspected accommodation plans, took stock of overall preparedness, and scrutinized the deployment strategies mapped out for sensitive and vulnerable locations. The security chiefs held detailed deliberations covering a wide array of vital parameters, including robust area domination, secure route and convoy protection, strict access control measures, unified communication protocols, and rapid emergency response mechanisms. Attendees included top brass from the CRPF, SSB, BSF, and regional police forces, such as Manoj Kumar (CO CRPF 137th Bn), M.D. Sazid (CO CRPF 187th Bn), Sandeep Bhat (Addl. SP Udhampur), and multiple assistant commissioners and deputy superintendents assigned to SANJY duties.
Emphasizing that foolproof synergy among all stakeholders is non-negotiable, DIG Sharma instructed the deployed officers to maintain peak alertness, professional vigilance, and swift real-time intelligence sharing throughout the Yatra period. The directive was further reinforced during a comprehensive briefing session at DPL Udhampur, which outlined strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) and tactical mock drills to counter any unforeseen contingencies. Concluding the session, the DIG commended the dedication of the joint security forces and expressed absolute confidence in their collective capability to deliver a peaceful, highly secure, and welcoming environment for all incoming pilgrims.
