Sagar Kavach coastal security exercise conducted in Andaman and Nicobar Islands
PORT BLAIR, May 16, 2026 — The Indian Coast Guard Region Andaman and Nicobar successfully conducted the coastal security exercise Sagar Kavach 01/26 along the coast of the islands from May 14 to May 15, 2026.
The two-day drill involved the active participation of maritime and air assets from key coastal security stakeholders, including the Indian Coast Guard, Indian Navy, Para Military Forces, and the Forest Department.
The primary objective of the exercise was to validate standard operating procedures, enhance inter-agency coordination, and strengthen the overall coastal security preparedness of the region.
By simulating realistic operational scenarios and executing synchronized responses, the participating agencies demonstrated robust operational readiness and established effective communication mechanisms to counter potential maritime threats.
