CBI Arrests 2012-Batch Haryana Cadre IPS Officer in Delhi Bribery Case Linked to Counterfeit Drugs Probe
NEW DELHI, India — JULY 01, 2026 — The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a 2012-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Haryana Cadre in connection with an ongoing bribery case. The officer, who is currently serving on central deputation as part of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) in Delhi, was apprehended following revelations from an investigation initially launched on June 8, 2026. The original case targeted a Delhi Police Inspector and two private individuals regarding allegations of corruption.
According to agency officials, probe findings disclosed that the accused IPS officer demanded illegal gratification by claiming he could leverage his personal influence to secure relief for private individuals involved in a separate CBI investigation into the sale of counterfeit drugs in Puducherry. Prior to the senior official’s arrest, the CBI had taken custody of the accused Delhi Police Inspector alongside six other private persons. That operation yielded a recovery of approximately Rs. 25 lakhs in trap money, an additional Rs. 90 lakhs, and various incriminating documents. Following the latest arrest, the CBI conducted extensive searches across multiple premises linked to the IPS officer, seizing digital devices, hard disks, and additional documents as the investigation continues.
