Amit Shah applauds NCB after first ever Captagon drug seizure worth 182 crore
NEW DELHI, May 16, 2026 — Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced a major breakthrough in the country’s anti-narcotics campaign, revealing that security agencies have executed the first-ever seizure of Captagon in India.
Valued at ₹182 crore, the contraband, often referred to as the Jihadi Drug, was intercepted during a targeted operation named Operation RAGEPILL. The drug consignment was destined for the Middle East, and the operation also resulted in the arrest of a foreign national.
Shah reiterated the central government’s firm resolve toward achieving a drug-free India, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy against trafficking.
He commended the Narcotics Control Bureau for their vigilance and declared that the administration will continue to clamp down on any narcotics entering India or using the territory as a transit route.
