Reasi police detain two drug peddlers under PITNDPS Act to combat narcotics
REASI, May 8, 2026 — As part of the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan initiative, the Reasi district police have achieved a significant breakthrough by detaining two notorious drug peddlers under the stringent PITNDPS Act.
The individuals, identified as Ajay Singh and Jamat Ali, were apprehended following their repeated involvement in trafficking illicit substances, including heroin, charas, and poppy straw. Both men have been lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal in Jammu to prevent further criminal activity and protect local youth from the influence of narcotics.
The detention follows a series of previous legal actions and warnings that failed to deter the accused from the illegal drug trade. Investigations and forensic reports confirmed their involvement in distributing psychotropic substances across the district for monetary gain.
Under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Mukund Tibrewal, detailed dossiers were prepared and submitted to the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, who subsequently issued the formal detention orders.
Reasi police have reaffirmed their zero-tolerance policy toward drug trafficking, stating that those who endanger the future of the younger generation will face severe legal consequences.
Authorities emphasized that strict enforcement under specialized laws will continue with an iron hand until the district is free from the menace of drugs. They have urged those involved in such illegal activities to return to the mainstream or face the full force of the law.
