Punjab Police Bust Narcotic Smuggling Module and Seize 12 Kg Heroin in Amritsar
Amritsar, May 3, 2026:- The Counter Intelligence wing of Amritsar successfully dismantled a narcotics smuggling module today, apprehending three individuals and recovering 12 kilograms of heroin. Acting on specific intelligence, police teams intercepted the suspects near the Toll Plaza on the Amritsar to Chabal Road in the Tarn Taran district.
This swift operation is part of an ongoing effort by law enforcement to disrupt the flow of illegal substances within the region.Initial investigations suggest that the accused were in direct contact with a smuggler based in Pakistan.
It appears the group was operating under specific instructions to distribute narcotics across the area. By intercepting this shipment, authorities have prevented a significant quantity of drugs from reaching the streets, further tightening the security net around cross-border smuggling activities.
Following the seizure, an FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell police station in Amritsar under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Police officials are now focusing on uncovering the broader network associated with this module.
Investigators are working to identify both the forward and backward linkages of the operation to ensure all individuals involved in the supply chain are brought to justice.
