Max Hospital Saket releases casualty details following Malviya Nagar cylinder blast fire
NEW DELHI, June 3, 2026 — Following a severe cylinder blast incident in Malviya Nagar, the Emergency Department of Max Hospital, Saket Complex received 39 patients who underwent immediate clinical assessment and management by multidisciplinary teams under strict emergency protocols, according to an official media statement from Max Healthcare Out of the 39 individuals received at the facility, 18 victims were brought dead, while 15 patients have been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, including eight individuals who remain on ventilator support in critical condition.
Furthermore, five patients presenting with minor injuries were treated and successfully discharged following primary medical care, and one patient suffering from excessive burns was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital for specialized treatment. The healthcare provider confirmed that the deceased include both local and foreign nationals, noting that the arriving patients generally presented with asphyxiation alongside varying degrees of fractures and minor burn injuries.
In response to the tragedy, the hospital promptly activated its mass-casualty response protocols, mobilizing all available clinical and support resources to ensure round-the-clock medical attention for those under treatment while extending deep condolences to the families of the deceased.
