JAMMU, MAY 06: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the Shri Narsingh Dev Sanskrit Gurukul at the historic Shri Narsingh Dev Temple in Ghagwal today, marking a major step toward reviving India’s ancient knowledge traditions.
During the event, the Lieutenant Governor also dedicated a Nakshatra Park and Yoga Dhyan Kendra to the public and laid the foundation stone for the Shri Narsingh Dev Public Library and an Open Air Amphitheatre. Addressing a gathering of scholars and citizens, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized that while India is making rapid strides in science and technology, its true strength remains rooted in its cultural consciousness.
He highlighted the essential role of Sanskrit in providing a balanced perspective on ethics and duty, noting that the language has served as a primary source of values and knowledge for centuries.
He paid tribute to the monumental global contributions of ancient scholars like Kautilya, Aryabhata, and Charaka in fields ranging from mathematics to medicine, and stressed the importance of making their vast repository of wisdom accessible to the modern world through simple and contemporary language.
The Lieutenant Governor further urged the Gurukul management to integrate the depth of tradition with modern educational standards to nurture ethical and courageous leaders.
He expressed confidence that the institution would evolve into a center of excellence by bridging the gap between ancient wisdom and modern requirements.
