LG Manoj Sinha Hands Over Appointment Letters to NoKs of Terror Victims, Reaffirms Resolve to Dismantle Terror Ecosystem
SRINAGAR, August 05, 2026 — In a major step toward delivering long-pending social justice, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha handed over appointment letters to 37 Next of Kins (NoKs) of innocent civilians killed by terrorists, alongside 32 beneficiaries under Compassionate Appointment Rules SRO-43 and the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme.
Paying rich tributes to the martyrs, the Lieutenant Governor stated that the initiative is not merely about employment, but serves as a reaffirmation of national will, restoring dignity and livelihood to families after decades of suffering. He highlighted that post the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A on August 5, 2019, the shadows of discrimination were lifted to pave the way for an era of equality, inclusive development, and swift, humane justice.
Addressing the gathering, Lieutenant Governor Sinha emphasized that the constitutional reforms under Prime Minister Narendra Modi successfully dismantled the terror ecosystem that previously operated with impunity. Pointing to symbolic milestones of transformation, he noted that after 33 years, hope has been restored to the family of Shopian martyr Wali Mohammad Wani, who was killed by terrorists in July 1993.
Stating that terror handlers operating from across the border may conspire in darkness but will ultimately be reached by the long arms of justice, Sinha asserted that J&K’s future will be built by its youth, workers, and farmers who have chosen peace and progress over violence and indoctrination.
Highlighting the region’s unprecedented economic and infrastructural growth, the Lieutenant Governor shared that investment in Jammu and Kashmir reached Rs 5,824 crore in the 2025-26 financial year—a thirteenfold increase compared to pre-2021 averages. Alongside major connectivity upgrades like the expanding Srinagar and Jammu airports and the Kashmir-to-Kanyakumari rail link, efforts are underway to double hydroelectric power generation by 2028.
Issuing a stern warning to corrupt elements and conflict profiteers, Sinha declared that any attempts to disrupt the prevailing peace and systemic integrity will be met with severe consequences.
The event witnessed the presence of top administrative and security officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, Commissioner Secretary GAD M Raju, IGP Kashmir VK Birdi, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, Save Youth Save Future Foundation Chairman Wajahat Farooq Bhat, as well as social organization representatives and terror victim families.
