J&K Budget 2026-27: CM Omar Abdullah Demands Rapid Execution and Tangible Public Outcomes
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 04 — Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led a high-level review meeting at the Civil Secretariat today to evaluate the implementation progress of key budget announcements for the 2026–27 fiscal year. Covering multiple major administrative sectors, the session focused on turning policy commitments into fast, visible improvements for citizens across Jammu and Kashmir. Abdullah instructed all administrative bodies to expedite project rollouts, eliminate inter-departmental bottlenecks, and maintain an unwavering focus on equitable development throughout the region.
The meeting brought together key cabinet members and senior administrative leadership, including Minister for Health & Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education Sakina Itoo, alongside Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Transport Satish Sharma. Also present were Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Dheeraj Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Shailendra Kumar, Administrative Secretaries, the Director General Budget, and the Director General Codes.
To kick off the evaluation, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Shailendra Kumar delivered a comprehensive presentation detailing the current operational status of the 2026–27 budget proposals. Following the overview, Administrative Secretaries from the School Education, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Social Welfare, and Health & Medical Education departments provided sector-specific briefings. They outlined action-taken reports, highlighted achieved milestones, and presented clear execution roadmaps for their respective domains.
In his directive, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasized that financial allocations mean little without measurable ground-level results. He instructed officers to enforce strict timelines, streamline inter-departmental workflows, and uphold high standards of transparency, efficiency, and public accountability. Reiterating the administration’s core objective, Abdullah concluded that every budget commitment must directly enhance public services and deliver time-bound benefits to every section of the population across Jammu and Kashmir.
