Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather Reviews Jammu Legislature Complex Progress and Sets Completion Deadline

JAMMU, APRIL 29, 2026:-Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather chaired a high-level meeting today with senior officials to evaluate the construction progress of the new Legislature Complex in Jammu.

During the session, which included representatives from the Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs department and the Public Works Department, the Speaker reviewed a detailed presentation on the project’s execution phases.

The discussions focused on essential infrastructure requirements, including the development of a Central Hall, a library, and specialized media rooms to ensure the facility meets modern legislative standards.

The Speaker was briefed on the specific provisions for five committee and meeting rooms, designed with seating capacities ranging from 50 to 100 people. Officials confirmed that the current plan provides sufficient space for all administrative and legislative needs, including the proposed Central Hall which remains a core requirement for the assembly’s operations.

Abdul Rahim Rather emphasized that the executing agencies must adhere strictly to high-quality standards while ensuring the project is finalized within the established timeframe.To ensure seamless progress, the Speaker directed the engineering teams and administrative officers to address any pending bottlenecks immediately.

He reiterated that the timely completion of the new complex is a priority for the assembly’s functional efficiency. The meeting was attended by key figures including Secretary of Law Achal Sethi, Engineer-in-Chief Purshotam Kumar, and Secretary of the Legislative Assembly Manoj Kumar Pandita, all of whom were tasked with monitoring the final stages of the development work.
