Jammu SSP Joginder Singh Hosts Major Crime and Security Review at DPL Jammu; Focuses on Anti-Drug Drive and New Criminal Laws

JAMMU, March 5, 2026 — In a comprehensive move to bolster regional safety and investigative efficiency, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Joginder Singh-JKPS, chaired a high-level crime and security review meeting today at the District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu.

The session, attended by all Zonal SsP, SDPOs, and SHOs, focused on a multi-pronged strategy to enhance field policing and ensure the strict implementation of recent legal reforms. SSP Jammu issued a stern directive of “Zero Tolerance” against drug trafficking, ordering officers to identify and take stringent action against peddlers to eliminate the narcotics menace from the district.

The security briefing emphasized heightened vigilance across all Areas of Responsibility (AOR), with a specific focus on protecting religious places and critical installations.

SSP Singh instructed the immediate intensification of surveillance through enhanced foot patrolling, the deployment of Long Range and Short Range Patrols (LRPs/SRPs), and the establishment of surprise nakas at strategic locations to deter anti-national and anti-social elements.

Furthermore, the SSP directed officers to maintain close tabs on released organized criminals and gangsters, ensuring that the general public remains free from any perceived criminal threats or intimidation.

In line with modernizing the judicial process, the meeting highlighted the mandatory utilization of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) services as per the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) provisions.

The SSP emphasized the need for time-bound investigations—specifically within the 60 and 90-day limits—to ensure speedy justice for victims. Officers were also told to fully implement citizen-centric features of the New Criminal Laws, including the registration of Zero-FIRs and e-FIRs.

Concluding the session, SSP Joginder Singh underscored that the efficiency of the force would be measured by its response time and the quality of its public dealings, asserting that zero tolerance would be maintained toward corruption, indiscipline, or the burking of crime.
