Jammu and Kashmir Strengthens Strategy to Combat Drug Abuse and Narco Terrorism

Srinagar, May 3, 2026 :- Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level review meeting at Lok Bhavan to evaluate the progress of the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan. The session focused on district-wise action plans designed to eliminate drug abuse and dismantle narco-terrorism networks across the region.

High-ranking officials, including Atal Dullo, Nalin Prabhat, and Chandraker Bharti, joined divisional commissioners and police heads to coordinate a unified response against the narcotics trade.The administration has set a rigorous 78-day timeline for district authorities to deliver measurable results in curbing substance abuse.

Sinha directed officials to implement a zero-tolerance policy, calling for the immediate seizure of properties linked to smugglers and the suspension of driving licenses and passports for those involved in trafficking. Additionally, strict inspections of pharmacies and educational zones will be conducted to prevent the misuse of prescription drugs and protect students from illegal networks.

Community engagement remains a central pillar of the campaign, with a push to transform the initiative into a mass movement through panchayats and urban wards. Local leaders, educators, and youth groups are being mobilized to provide grassroots support.

To offer positive alternatives for the youth, the government is prioritizing the development of sports infrastructure and playfields in every panchayat, encouraging young people to channel their energy into athletic and recreational pursuits.

The review also addressed the regulation of recovery services, with orders to shut down unauthorized de-addiction centers. Only certified institutions will be permitted to operate under the established regulatory framework.

Looking ahead, officials were also instructed to finalize security and logistical arrangements for upcoming religious events, including the Amarnathji Yatra and Muharram, ensuring public safety and convenience during these major gatherings.
