Crime Branch files chargesheet in Srinagar job scam case

SRINAGAR, May 1, 2026:-The Special Crime Wing of the Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a formal chargesheet against three individuals accused of orchestrating a multi-lakh job fraud scheme.

The accused, Fayaz Ahmad Khan, Showkat Ahmad Shah, and Owais Ahmad Rather, allegedly duped residents of Pulwama by promising government positions for their children and relatives.

The legal action follows a detailed investigation into allegations of fraud, forgery, and criminal conspiracy initiated after victims reported being swindled out of significant sums of money.

During the investigation, authorities discovered that the suspects posed as influential officials to gain the trust of their victims. They issued forged appointment orders purportedly from the Forest Department, which were later confirmed to be completely counterfeit.

The scam involved taking large cash payments under the guise of providing backdoor entries into government service. The chargesheet has been presented before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in Srinagar for trial.

Following these developments, officials have urged the public to remain vigilant against such fraudulent schemes and to report any suspicious activity to the Special Crime Wing.
