Awantipora police register case and arrest man under POCSO Act

AWANTIPORA, June 14, 2026 — The Awantipora Police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act following a complaint alleging the assault of a child.

Acting promptly on the report, the Awantipora Police Station filed an FIR against the accused and launched a formal investigation into the matter.

Law enforcement officials immediately informed the Child Welfare Committee in Pulwama as per prescribed procedures and facilitated a medical examination of the victim to secure essential medical evidence. The accused has been identified as Shakir Ahmad Bandha, a resident of Dangerpora, Awantipora.
