Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police Seize Heroin Worth Lakhs in Zote Drug Bust

CHAMPHAI, April 25, 2026 – In a successful joint operation aimed at curbing narcotics smuggling, the Assam Rifles and the Champhai Police intercepted a significant drug shipment in the Zote area of Mizoram .

During the coordinated crackdown, security forces recovered 35.83 grams of Heroin No. 4, which carries an estimated market value of approximately 26.87 lakh rupees. One individual suspected of involvement in the trafficking attempt was apprehended at the scene as part of the tactical intervention.

Following the successful recovery, the seized contraband and the apprehended suspect were formally handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department in Champhai for further legal action. Authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation to determine the origin of the narcotics and identify any potential links to wider smuggling networks operating across the border.
