Army Chief Honours Four Veterans with Prestigious Veteran Achievers Award
NEW DELHI, April 18, 2026:-General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, felicitated four distinguished veterans with the Veteran Achievers Award during the Retiring Officers Seminar in New Delhi.
The award recognizes their exceptional post-retirement contributions to nation-building, social welfare, and youth empowerment. Among the awardees, Colonel DP Dimri (Retd) was honored for his dedication to rural development and education in Uttarakhand, where he established a library for underprivileged students and founded a coaching institute in Rudraprayag to support those affected by the Kedarnath floods.
Captain Reeta Rajkishor Biyani (Retd), a cancer survivor and Limca Record holder, was recognized for leading a massive nationwide cancer awareness movement through her initiative, Highways Infinite, which has impacted lakhs of individuals through screenings and support workshops.
The ceremony also celebrated the grassroots impact of Subedar (Honorary Captain) Tsewang Norbo (Retd) and Subedar Bhaskar Parida (Retd). Captain Norbo has been a driving force for socio-economic upliftment in remote regions, leading environmental plantation drives and mentoring local youth to join the Armed Forces.
Meanwhile, Subedar Parida was acknowledged for his tireless work supporting the veteran community in Odisha, specifically regarding pension and healthcare welfare. His contributions extend to marine conservation and environmental protection, alongside his efforts to ensure dignified last rites for veterans and promote national values.
Together, these awardees exemplify the spirit of continued service and leadership beyond their military careers.
