Amritsar Police Dismantle Cross-Border Arms Smuggling Module; Three Arrested with Six Pistols
AMRITSAR, April 14, 2026— The Amritsar Commissionerate Police has successfully busted a major cross-border illegal arms smuggling network, leading to the arrest of three individuals and the recovery of six sophisticated pistols.
Initial investigations suggest that the suspects utilized social media platforms to maintain contact with smugglers based in Pakistan, who facilitated the illegal transport of weapons across the border.
Once the consignments were retrieved, the module distributed the firearms to various criminal elements throughout Punjab.
A formal case has been registered at the Cantonment Police Station in Amritsar under the Arms Act, and authorities are currently working to trace both forward and backward linkages to fully dismantle the smuggling operation.
This crackdown underscores the Punjab Police’s zero-tolerance policy regarding organized crime and illegal arms trafficking.
By targeting these networks, the department continues its mission to neutralize anti-national activities and maintain public safety and security across the state.
