Chief Secretary Lays Foundation Stone For Dharamshala Restoration In Kulgam

KULGAM, August 02 — Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo laid the foundation stone for the revival and restoration of the historic Dharamshala at Mata Kantiyani Bhagwati Asthapan in Kakran, located in Kulgam district. Sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 2.84 crore, the project is being executed by the PWD Division D.H. Pora.

The initiative aims to preserve the religious, cultural, and historical heritage of the site while upgrading facilities for visiting pilgrims.Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary highlighted the importance of conserving heritage sites and upgrading public infrastructure to boost religious tourism and local socio-economic growth.

Emphasizing strict quality standards and timely completion, the Chief Secretary also interacted with members of the Kashmiri Pandit community during the visit.

Officials, including Deputy Commissioner Shahzad Alam and Director Archives Kuldeep Krishan Sidha, briefed the gathering on the cultural significance of the Dharamshala and ongoing district efforts to enhance civic amenities and preserve historical assets.
