JK Assembly Speaker Inaugurates Local Cricket Tournament In Budgam

BUDGAM, August 02 — Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly inaugurated a local cricket tournament at Tujan in Budgam, featuring more than 32 teams from across urban and rural areas.

Addressing players, officials, and community members, the Speaker highlighted the role of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, leadership, and perseverance among youth. Emphasizing the physical and mental health benefits of sports, the Speaker noted that athletic participation serves as a constructive channel for building character and developing local talent.

Highlighting ongoing government initiatives, the Speaker reaffirmed the commitment to building world class sports infrastructure across the region to help young athletes compete at national and international levels. Sports have evolved beyond simple recreation into a respected career path, with several athletes from Jammu and Kashmir earning recognition on global platforms.
