Special Medical Camps Organized Across Bishnah Constituency to Tackle Post-Flash Flood Diseases: Dr Rajeev Bhagat MLA

Bishnah, September 9, 2025: In the wake of recent flash floods that impacted several areas across the Bishnah constituency, a series of Special Medical Camps were organized today to address rising health concerns and to raise awareness about water-borne diseases. These medical camps were held at Banachak, Kharian, Salehar, Allah, Arnia, and Rehal, and witnessed overwhelming participation from the local population. The initiative was inaugurated by the MLA of Bishnah Constituency, Dr. Rajiv Bhagat, who himself checks and aware the masses in all the camps during his tour and emphasized the importance of community-level healthcare interventions in the aftermath of natural disasters. “These medical camps are not only a means to treat those already affected but are also crucial in spreading awareness about preventive measures to avoid outbreaks of diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and diarrhoea,” Dr. Bhagat stated during the inauguration ceremony. “Our priority is to ensure the health and safety of every citizen, and this proactive measure is a testament to our commitment to the well-being of the community.

The Special Medical Camps were a collaborative effort, with Dr. Ghansham Singh, Block Medical Officer Bishnah, personally overseeing the functioning of all camps. Dr. Singh coordinated with the deployed medical staff to ensure seamless operations and that all camps were fully equipped with necessary medical supplies and diagnostic tools. Medical Staff deputed for the camps were Dr. Pooja at Medical Camp, Salehar, Dr. Rohit, Dr. Manvi, Dr. Sakshi, Dr. Rajesh, Dr.Tejpreet, Dr. Shabnam at Medical Camp Arnia, Dr. Prem, Jyoti MLHP, Parul, Soma Devi at Medical Camp Allah, Dr. Subash, Dr. Sania, Dr. Sakshi, Bindu JSN, Sukhdev at Medical Camp Rehal, Dr. Neeru Kundal, Surjeet Kumar Sr. Pharmacist, Surjeet Saini CHO, Dr. Heena, Dr. Parika, Renu, Roop and ASHA Workers at Medical Camp Chak Bana, Dr Kanika Chib (Medical Officer), Dr Isha Gupta (MLHP), Sarla Devi (JSN), Harbans Singh (BHW), Reetu Sharma (FMPHW) and Paramjeet Singh at Medical Camp Kharian.

The camps central focus was on public health education, with medical professionals emphasizing the critical need for proper hygiene and the use of safe drinking water.

Informational pamphlets were distributed in local languages, and doctors demonstrated practical steps like effective handwashing and the use of boiled or filtered water to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases. This awareness campaign was a key component of the day’s activities, aiming to empower the community to protect themselves from future health risks.

The success of the medical camps was significantly bolstered by the strong involvement of prominent local leaders. Abhishek Jamwal (Mandal Pardhan), Surjeet Singh (Sarpanch), Som Dutt Choudhary, and Sonu Pardhan were among the notable figures who were present and actively encouraged residents to take advantage of the healthcare services.

Their participation not only boosted public morale but also ensured smooth coordination between the health department and the local community. These Special Medical Camps provided immediate relief and treatment to hundreds of flood-affected individuals and served as a critical platform to educate the public on post-flood health hazards.

Medicines were distributed for common ailments like cold, cough, fever, diarrhoea, screening was done for hypertension and diabetes. The collective and coordinated efforts of the health department, local administration, medical professionals, and community leaders have ensured a robust and timely response to the emerging healthcare needs in the Bishnah constituency, showcasing proactive governance in a time of crisis.
