J&K Weather Update: Met Centre Srinagar Forecasts Rain and Heavy Showers Across Jammu Division; Flash Flood Advisory Issued

SRINAGAR, July 10, 2026 — The Meteorological (Met) Centre Srinagar has issued a comprehensive weather forecast and advisory for Jammu & Kashmir, warning of upcoming rainfall and potential environmental hazards across vulnerable regions. Today, July 10, weather conditions are expected to remain generally hot and humid, though scattered areas will experience spells of rain and thundershowers. A few places within the Jammu division are also anticipated to witness brief, intense heavy showers.

As the weekend approaches, a significant shift in weather patterns is projected for July 11 and 12. During this period, one or two spells of rain and thundershowers are forecast at many places. The Chenab Valley and Pirpanjal range of the Jammu division are on alert for isolated heavy rainfall and brief, intense heavy showers. Following this weekend surge, the weather from July 13 to 16 will revert to being generally hot and humid, punctuated by brief spells of rain and thundershowers at scattered locations, alongside isolated intense showers in the Jammu division. A fresh system is expected to arrive between July 17 and 19, bringing light to moderate rain and thundershowers to many places across the region.

In light of these predictions, the Met Centre Srinagar has issued a critical safety advisory, particularly highlighting the risk of heavy rainfall and brief, intense showers during the afternoon, early morning, and morning hours on July 11 and 12. Authorities have warned of potential flash floods, landslides, and mudslides at vulnerable locations within the Chenab Valley and Pirpanjal Range. Residents and travelers are strongly advised to stay away from nallahs, streams, and mudslide-prone areas to ensure their safety during this period of turbulent weather.
