Five Injured In Amarnath Yatra Car Crash at Toldi Nallah Udhampur As CRPF Launches Quick Rescue

UDHAMPUR, July 10, 2026:- A accident on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway left five Amarnath Yatra pilgrims injured on Friday morning after their vehicle veered out of the driver’s control and slammed into a roadside protection wall.

The incident took place around 6:05 AM near Toldi Nallah in the Samroli area of Udhampur. The victims, all hailing from the Baikunthpur area in the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh, were traveling in a Maruti Ertiga.

They had set out from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu and were en route to the Pahalgam base camp to begin their annual pilgrimage when the driver unexpectedly lost control of the vehicle, leading to a violent collision with the concrete protection wall of the national highway.

A swift, coordinated rescue operation was launched immediately after the crash. Personnel from the CRPF 137 Battalion,Indian Army’s Gorkha 4/3, Civil Defence, Traffic Police, and JK Police rushed to the site within minutes to extricate the passengers from the damaged vehicle.

Manoj Kumar Sicon, Commandant of the 137th Battalion CRPF Udhampur, confirmed that CRPF personnel on duty on the highway started the rescue operation at 6:07 AM, just two minutes after the accident occurred, and quickly shifted the injured individuals to the hospital.The injured pilgrims were evacuated and transported to the Associated Hospital Government Medical College in Udhampur for emergency medical treatment.

Authorities have identified the victims as Subash Gupta, Seema Gupta, Rajev Gupta, Geeta Gupta, and Daleep Kumar Gupta.

While four of the passengers sustained moderate injuries and are being monitored, Seema Gupta was reported to have sustained serious, critical injuries.

Due to the severity of her condition, doctors at the Udhampur hospital referred her to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu for specialized treatment.Following the accident, several officials and dignitaries visited the Associated Hospital Government Medical College in Udhampur to check on the condition of the injured pilgrims and ensure they were receiving proper care.

The visitors included MLA Pawan Kumar Gupta, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa, CRPF Commandant Manoj Kumar Sicon, and ADC Prem Singh. Meanwhile, Authorities have initiated a formal investigation to pinpoint the exact mechanical or environmental factors that caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
