Udhampur Police seize 242 kg of unhygienic cheese at Phalata Naka
UDHAMPUR, June 27, 2026 :- Udhampur Police intercepted a major consignment of unsafe food items during a routine checkpoint operation at Phalata Naka. A police team from the Rehambal Police Station discovered nine unclaimed cardboard boxes during a routine inspection.
Upon closer examination, the boxes were found to contain approximately 242 kilograms of cheese that was being transported under suspicious circumstances.Recognizing the potential public health risk due to the visibly unhygienic and sub-standard condition of the dairy product, the police team immediately contacted the Food Safety Department for a professional evaluation.
Food Safety Officer Sanjeev Gupta arrived at the scene to conduct a formal inspection of the seized goods. Following a thorough assessment, the official declared the entire batch of cheese unfit for human consumption.To ensure the contaminated food did not reach the market or pose a threat to public health, the authorities ordered its immediate disposal.
The entire 242-kilogram consignment was destroyed on the spot by the joint team of police and food safety officials following standard prescribed bio-safety procedures, effectively neutralizing a potential health hazard for the local community.
