Jammu and Kashmir security review meeting held for Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026

SRINAGAR, June 14, 2026 — Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Police Control Room Kashmir to assess and strengthen arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.

The meeting saw participation from top police brass, including Special DGP Coordination S.J.M. Gillani, along with various Additional Directors General, Inspectors General, Deputy Inspectors General, and District Senior Superintendents of Police from across both Kashmir and Jammu zones.

During the session, Nalin Prabhat directed officers to maintain a high state of readiness and ensure seamless coordination at all levels. He emphasized the need for heightened vigil across sensitive locations, calling for enhanced surveillance, regular area domination exercises, intensified search operations, and continuous patrolling along pilgrimage routes, railway tracks, and major tourist destinations.

The police chief also mandated daily anti-sabotage checks along the yatra routes to keep major arteries under round-the-clock security.To bolster emergency response, the police department will deploy Quick Response Teams at strategic locations. Nalin Prabhat stressed the importance of using modern security technologies, including CCTV networks and RFID-based tracking systems, to monitor transit camps, base camps, and authorized vehicles.

Officers were also instructed to launch public awareness campaigns regarding specific cut-off timings for the pilgrims.The police chief ordered a strict watch on terrorist associates and anti-national elements while securing hinterland areas and vital installations. District chiefs were told to maintain close ties with civil administration for smooth logistical execution.

Additionally, Nalin Prabhat highlighted the necessity of comprehensive contingency planning for disaster management, fire incidents, and adverse weather conditions. On the sidelines of the yatra preparations, the meeting also reviewed security measures for the upcoming Muharram observances and the annual Mela Kheer Bhawani to ensure crowd management and peaceful conduct.
