EOW Kashmir searches office and residence of Shopian Deputy Chief Medical Officer over date of birth fraud

Srinagar June 13, 2026—The Economic Offences Wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Crime Branch conducted extensive searches across the twin districts of Shopian and Pulwama. The operation is part of an ongoing investigation into an FIR involving the fraudulent insertion and alteration of date-of-birth entries in official service records, which were allegedly used to secure undue professional benefits.

Investigators targeted both the official workplace and the personal property of the accused official. Searches were carried out at the office of the Deputy Chief Medical Officer in Shopian, as well as his private residence located in Thamuna, Pulwama. The raids were executed following standard legal procedures and were conducted in the presence of independent witnesses to ensure transparency.

During the crackdown, authorities examined and seized various documents and digital materials linked to the case. The Economic Offences Wing has urged the general public to remain vigilant against financial and administrative fraud.

Authorities have advised citizens to report any suspicious activity to the Senior Superintendent of Police or submit official complaints via email.
