Punjab Police arrest three key operatives in Batala double murder case at Indo-Bhutan border

SILIGURI, May 13, 2026 :- The Anti-Gangster Task Force of Punjab Police has successfully apprehended three primary operatives linked to a high-profile foreign-based criminal network during a joint operation at the Indo-Bhutan border in West Bengal.

The coordinated effort, which involved the Batala Police and central intelligence agencies, intercepted the suspects as they were attempting to flee into Bhutan to evade capture.The individuals in custody are allegedly responsible for a recent double murder in Bhoma, located within the Batala district.

Initial questioning suggests that the suspects were operating under the direct command of Happy Jatt, a fugitive handler currently based abroad. Investigators believe the killings were a premeditated act carried out on Jatt’s specific instructions.

This arrest marks a significant development in the investigation into organized crime syndicates targeting the region.

Punjab Police officials stated that the operation reflects their ongoing commitment to dismantling criminal infrastructures and tracking down fugitives, regardless of their attempts to cross international borders.

The suspects are being transported back to Punjab to face legal proceedings.
