LG Sinha Urges Citizens to Break Silence and Unite Against Drug Menace in Jammu and Kashmir
Srinagar, May 9, 2026:- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha joined a Padyatra in Anantnag today as part of the Drug-Free J&K Campaign, calling on all citizens to break their silence and unite against the growing threat of drug abuse.
Addressing a large gathering, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized that the challenge of addiction can only be overcome through a collective society-wide approach involving schools, families, and local communities.
He highlighted the dangerous link between narcotics and terrorism, noting that drug money is being used by neighboring countries to fund radicalization and violence within the Union Territory.
He vowed that the administration would continue its aggressive crackdown on narco-terror networks to safeguard the future of the youth.The Lieutenant Governor shared significant progress in the fight against drugs in Anantnag, where 108 cases under the NDPS Act have been registered since mid-April.
Authorities have demolished luxury properties worth 3.5 crore built by smugglers, seized over 20 vehicles, and sealed 13 drug stores for legal violations.
During the event, Manoj Sinha also laid the foundation stone for sports infrastructure projects valued at 20.60 crore, including a Khel Gaon at Jablipora, to provide healthy outlets for local energy.
He urged religious leaders, teachers, and women to lead awareness efforts over the next 71 days, promising that the entire machinery involved in drug smuggling will be uprooted from the region.
